It was a brief moment in time
entwined within the other time
when I awoke long enough
to look beyond my dreams,
and saw
your fragile smile
appear before my eyes.
I reached beyond myself
to touch
what I thought
had to be another dream.
And touched instead
the gentle features
of your smile.
And as the subtle texture
of your being
flowed into my fingertips
I knew the world was new
and that your smile
would be a part of me
forever more.
