The Shores Of The Sun

So thus I turned,
And left the silent statues,
their gaze still fixed
upon the distant line,
And once again
resumed my endless journey
along the golden shore,
and found that I was not alone:

"You knew me once!", the stranger said,
as there we walked
leaving our footprints,
glistening, side by side upon the sand.
"Do you not remember
that other time we walked?
My footsteps on the Rock
echoed the thousand ages in your soul,
before the drifting dust
of your endless journey
turned your gaze from mine
and formed it into stone!"

I stopped,
and turned,
to give the saddened
memory of my gaze to him.
and so,
I heard the Footsteps on the Rock
echo the thousands ages
once again,
and only then
I knew with whom I walked!

"You are!", I said at last.
"You have always Been,
and I have always known You well.
Even in the drifting times,
when my stone like gaze
was all I had
to give to your return."

"But look!", I said.
"I have returned,
even from my endless journey,
to find You waiting here for me,
as always.
And I know that You will always Be,
because You Are!”

And so,

He reached beyond

the mask I’ve always worn,

and gently touched

the inner surface of my soul.

And as the world

dissolved in splendor

before my closing eyes,

I lost myself at last

to the stillness

of his gentle touch,

the Sun,

and peace.
