I lay forever
on the horizons of my life,
watching each eternity
pass on into the next.
There, as I reached out
to touch the perpetual dawn,
I felt the sun
pass on into the splendor
of another day.
So I opened my eyes
to soak in the warmth
of that new beginning,
and to my joy
I saw it was your smile.
Taking you into my arms
I held the moment,
praying it would be
an eternity.
So even now,
my fingers reach
to touch the endless horizon,
hoping to hold your smile
forever and beyond.
