The Touch

It became my mission
to bring some sense of happyness
into your life
as you sat
and breathed the essence of despair.

I reached
to touch your heart
and in the process
your soul
suffused into my own.

As I sought to know
the nature of the touch
you brought upon me,
I lifted you up
to touch the stars.

And so
we came together
within the music of the night.
And there
we sang the songs
that turn forever
in the unfolding of the dawn.
